02 / Model definition

Detect candidates, review the transition plot and edit each temperature, then apply the regression. Semi-crystalline: estimated cooling onset; amorphous: estimated glass-transition kink.

b5 and b6 come from your reviewed transition regression or manual inputs. Tt(p) = b5 + b6 · p. Changes to the CSV or material type require a new transition review.

Ready for your measurements.

Notation follows Modified Tait Model (2): L = melt, S = solid. b5 in K, b6 in K/Pa.

Equations, units and fitting limitations

v(p,T) = [b1 + b2 · (T − b5)] · [1 − 0.0894 · ln(1 + p / B(T))] + vt(p,T)

B(T) = b3 · exp[−b4 · (T − b5)]
Tt(p) = b5 + b6 · p

Melt: T > Tt, vt = 0. Solid: T ≤ Tt, vt = b7 · exp[b8 · (T − b5) − b9 · p]. For amorphous materials, vt = 0; a shared b1 or continuity constraint is not enforced in this first version.

Bounded nonlinear least-squares fitting with three starting points. All measurements have equal weight. b5/b6 are determined separately from reviewed transitions or manual inputs and held fixed during the volume fit. A small fitting error alone does not establish unique or physically valid parameters. Check transition jumps and parameter sensitivity. No cooling-rate correction is included. Use within the measured range is recommended.

SI conversion: p × 10⁶; v × 10⁻³; b5 + 273.15; b6 × 10⁻⁶; b9 × 10⁻⁶. Temperature differences remain unchanged.
